A native to Eastern Long Island Captain Rob Thompson grew up fishing these waters. In 1991 he learned to fly fish which made his passion grow into a degree in Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences. Soon after he worked as a fishing instructor at a local children's camp then as a certified Honda Outboard Technician at Southold Marine Center. While gaining a deeper background in fishing and boating Captain Rob obtained his N.Y.S. Guides License (2000) and then a United States Coast Guard O.U.P.V. Captains License(2002). Then at age 24 Rob took off to be an engineer on a dive charter boat that traveled though-out the Northern Bahamas. Soon after spearing numerous spiny lobster and landing some nice pelagics he returned home to guide. After a few Montauk Redbone Tournaments (03-06)and traveling about the world fishing he moved to Maine with his wife. Here he learned about working on wooden boats, hauling and repairing commercial lobster and long lining vessels. Now with two children of their own they moved back to Orient New York in 2011. Captain Rob once again fishes the waters he grew up on. He also works at Romeo Dimon Marine Services as a Certified Marine Mechanic, commercially shellfishes, and takes care of the kids.
