tomas Mccoy,  author

it all started with one trip

Tom was on a trip one morning in the dense fog of a June day. Instead of flying out from the boat launch we took our time. Just around the bend we came upon 30 or more Striped Bass finning in front of us. We poled the boat in watching each dorsal fin cruise around in two feet of water. A short cast later with a sparse white 2" deceiver sealed the deal. Here is Tom with one of many.

Our captain will do what he can to get you on fish. Rob is a spot and stalk type of fisherman who works the water effectively and quietly.  We

fish from Orient & Greenport, The Ruins, The Gut,  Big Gull & Little Gull, Shelter Island, Gardners Bay, Peconic Bay, Southold, and Cutchogue. Montauk? Maybe!  The types of fish we go after are Striped Bass "Stripers", Bluefish, False Albacore "Albies", Weakfish, Fluke, Porgies, Blackfish, and of course Sea Bass.

clamming & seine netting

When being on the water day in and day out you gain an intimate knowledge of the ecosystem you frequent. A major way of knowing this is by getting in the water. When clamming we turn up the bottom releasing benthic organisms. We see what was right beneath us. In seine netting we catch what was hidden by sunlight and cloudy water. With both of these we see the make-up of a diet for all the inshore species we are after. Plus its fun to catch baitfish and clams.

Yeah, we catch fish!  sometimes big ones, but i focus on making memories that will make you come back for more
